I am not my body. I am not my mind.

Roles I play: Dad | Fiancé | Locksmith | Human

I do not identify as any of these things.

Tat Tvam Asi.
The problem is that you can't teach people who don't want to learn. Access to information is greater than ever before. We have to give people a better reason to pursue knowledge.

It's what the culture feelin.

Could it be that consciousness remains? I don't doubt that the brain is responsible for generating an adaptive model of our environment, I'm just not so sure the brain is generating consciousness. Certainly, the individual dies with the body, but does awareness?

The Bible was never written, it was compiled.

I'm not in a position to dive into this right now, but it seems very interesting. I will definitely revisit!

Yes, and?

They're all great, beholder and mindflayer are some of my favorites.

I go through old sketchbooks and journals, and it's like someone else made them. Surreal.

Rad!

Hortatory lectures almost never work. Except maybe in an extremely close and personal relationship.

Best of luck!

I suppose I would if the bathrooms were genderless but still communal. I guess you're right.

Don't kill yourself. We'll sell you a 1000 things that will do it for you over the next couple of decades.

What steps are you taking to support these causes?

If the bathroom is for a single person at a time, sure. But if my 7 year old daughter walks into a public restroom and a fully grown man strolls in after (not as in literally pursuing) her, that would make me uncomfortable.

I agree. Not every passing conversation needs to be had at such a high level of accuracy and clarity. If you paid attention and digested the content, reading vs. listening doesn't matter. But saying they're the same is just not correct.
November 22, 2024 at 3:16 PM
How is it even a debate? There are circumstances that lend themselves to reading and circumstances that lend themselves to audiobooks.

Anyone who reads physical books is almost guaranteed to listen to audiobooks. The reverse is not true. I wonder why that is?
November 22, 2024 at 3:02 PM
Listening and reading are different. One is not better than the other. It's okay to say "Listening is not reading" without implying listening is somehow less effective for consuming written word.
November 22, 2024 at 2:57 PM
The world is more nuanced than that.
November 22, 2024 at 2:48 PM
No, it doesn't come off as ableist to any reasonable person. Any sane person realizes there are always exceptions and variables. Not every statement needs an asterisk so that every possible circumstance is included.
November 22, 2024 at 2:46 PM
This debate is so ridiculous. Both sides of it come from insecurity.

Reading and listening are NOT the same, but it doesn't make one better than the other. Is a hammer better than a screwdriver?

This whole dialogue is driven by people desperate to be perceived as better than others.

If a game requires an invasive anticheat, I'm not interested. Looking at you, League of Legends.
