Close to unanimous choice. Beast on the bike. Went in the break all year long. Again and again and again. Put some serious hurt on the riders who rode with him.

Born attacker. Both of his legs are known as the “Healy whisperers”. Relentless. A joy to watch. Animates almost every race he can contest.

Had an impressive win in Clásica Jaén & mixed it up in the Tour & La Vuelta. Curious to see if he’ll be able to regularly go long in 2025 with his new team.

When he goes, he goes. Going all out, dying, surviving, going again,…He was relentless in this year’s Vuelta culminating in a win on Lagos de Covadonga.

Cort settled quite nicely in his new team and took a few quality wins including a strong ride in Denmark and Veneto. We’ll sure see the 🥸 often in the attack again in 2025.

It was a very long & challenging recovery for Taco what made his win in this year’s Elfstedenrace nothing less than spectacular. He’ll take that heart and determination into 2025.

7. Mauro Schmid

Nr. of votes out of 8 received: 5

Ranking vs ranking 2024: NEW

Mauro has 3 GT’s under his belt & has shown in each of them that he’ll contest wins out of the breakaway (2x🥈🇪🇸2024, 🥈🇮🇹2022, 🥇🇮🇹2021). Underestimated as a baroudeur.

Yes he’s a classics guy, yes he’ll contest a bunch sprint and yes he’ll help out his GC leader but he’s also a breakaway stud who often initiates the break.

Getting pleasure out of hurting himself. The love for the bike, the love for the fight. It got him a nice win this year in Italy to complete his 🇫🇷🇮🇹🇪🇸triple.

2024 was probably his strongest pro year, showing he can ride classics finals. It didn’t stop him from getting into the breakaways to fight all day for glory.

This led to a top 10 of riders that we expect to perform in 2025 with their historic results & potential in mind.

Our final category: the baroudeurs.

The way he rode/climbed (demolishing everyone) in 2024 & how much he (still) improved, there was no way he would not land on this first spot. Out of this world.

Insane comeback from Jonas after his horrific injury in Itzulia. It took everything out of him but it speaks volumes about his mindset and talent.

Finishing the Tour as 3rd way ahead of those behind him in his 1st TDF after a far from ideal prep is damn impressive. We’re now curious to see what else he has in store as a climber.

Primož does not go away. He doesn’t let it. He doesn’t let up. Still has the fire burning. When he’s built up a solid base, you can always count on him. With or without a scratch.

João made great strides this year with impressive showings in the TdS & a very strong Tour. Strongly improved his peak numbers & consistency. He’a sticking around in this ranking.

6. Adam Yates

GC wins with Oman & TdS, had some strong moments in the TDF and won a MT in La Vuelta. We don’t see any reason to expect a big performance drop next year.

7. Juan Ayuso

Yes he won Itzulia (from a decimated (GC) field) & was a bit unlucky but truth is he didn’t live up to his potential in 2024. Too much of a talent to doubt him for 2025.

8. Enric Mas

In a year that wasn’t his best he was at times the best climber in la Vuelta which he finished on the 3rd step. Too much of a natural climbing talent to discount him.

9. Mikel Landa

Nr. of votes out of 8 received: 8

Head & shoulders above the rest of the mortals in Catalunya, a magnificent Tour & a top 10 in the Vuelta. Mikel seems to thrive in a new environment.

Romandie queen stage, a MT TDF stage & the overall polka dots & a solid Vuelta. Had crashes & disappointments in 2024 but showed that he still has his climbing (fighting) spirit.

The beast has been unleashed & hard to tame. He’s got power, the age & room to improve. Less track, more road, a superb team. He’s got everything to maximize his sprinting potential.

Tim was at least the most successful and arguably the fastest sprinter of 2024. With his background in mind, he also still has a bit of room to become even better.

Jasper had an amazing year with MSR, 3 TDF stages & a PR podium but lacked a bit of speed in comparison with our top 2 which was part of our assessment.
