This really isn't a normal lead up to a budget

Look, some of us had a busy (🍆) weekend, let us have both a Green revolution AND coffee... Have they never heard of bread and roses?

Just published @nursingstandard.bsky.social I propose a ‘queer ethics of care’: drawing from queer responses to cancer & mpox I suggest #nurses can learn from (not just about) #LGBTQ+ communities, reorienting #nursing #ethics towards more collaborative practices

So now apparently Liz Truss thinks it's a really good idea for her to have been in control of... everything 🤣 OMFG she is the idiot that just keeps on giving

One may have thought that as someone who has just started a research project titled "The Social Production of Chemsex Art" I may have heard of this (apparently rather famous) book written literally across the road from me... 🫣 I had not... And thankfully neither had the person reviewing my grant 😂

The English flag shouldn't be appropriated by racists & fascist (it's silly to say it hasn't, it has) but FFS can we PLEASE stop using this version. The whole fucking point of a flag is to serve as an abstract representation of its history & people. You don't need to write "England" on it 🙄

I love my city... All the local mini-pride events bring such queer joy to me. Going down the A6 through Levenshulme on th 192 remembering the queer joy of last night, and then seeing all the rainbow flags is beautiful to me

I'm still sad Gordon Brown never got a decent run at being PM - he has such a solid and clear vision for social justice and and understanding about how economic flourishing and social flourishing can go hand in hand... www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

I can accept people being "worse off" - quite frankly I would be happy to be "worse off" if education, health etc were "better off". I cannot accept Labour pushing 250000 people into poverty, the long term consequences are devastating. Shame on them all.

Is a wealth tax really that hard?

1 - you make it a criminal offence to hide your wealth

2 - have massive fines for avoidance

3 - if an asset is found (such as property or land) and it isn't declared for tax purposes, declare it the states (I guarantee people would rather pay 2% than 100%)

I am consistently reminded why I left The Labour Party. If people come here for asylum, and we grant it, eventually we should offer them citizenship (for free I might add). It has real and tangible influences on things like being able to travel to a conference as easily as one's British colleagues.

I was really struck by this comment from a major construction company saying they struggle to support apprentices when numbers exceed 6-7%. Nursing students represent about 20% in comparison to nursing workforce numbers. No wonder placement experiences are frequently so bad.

Looks like Tories have started to do graffiti in Manchester

Manchester Graffiti definitely giving out some strong vibes, I particularly like the theme around inverting some of the power dynamics that have come to oppress so many in so many ways

Indexing! For anyone wondering, the really long collection of post-its in the middle are the page references to the 20 #gay & #bi men who so generously gave their time in interviews with me over 2.5 years. This book on #chemsex would have been nothing without them, their contributions are central 🙏
