For folks, here is the next public workshop. It will be a destination weekend combining the science of dyes with the traditional Indigenous knowledge of Nadine McSpadden. Please share far and wide, especially for folks in the interior around Kamloops. The workshop will be at the Sorrento Centre.

Did some dyeing today with two of my favourite humans. They are 8 and 10. Natural dyeing is a lot of work but they stayed interested throughout the whole process.

Preparing for natural dye workshops. Wool mordanted in alum, iron and titanium. Two ammonia baths with evernia lichen and xantheria lichen. Natural dyeing is not about instant gratification. #naturaldyeing

Do I know their names? Nope 😀. They are so beautiful and I had to take photos. Getting outside and stopping to acknowledge these little gems gives me such joy. #fungi

Unfortunately the colour washed out! I don’t think my iron mordanted wool had enough iron 2% instead of 6%.
