Whenever a government fails to effectively run a public service, its default response appears to be privatisation, conveniently removing accountability from elected officials and insulating them from scrutiny. MPs risk becoming passive spectators rather than representatives with genuine authority.

It often seems that when Faragists speak about “asylum seekers,” they may be referring more broadly to people who look or believe differently from them. Many are also referring to those born and raised here.

This is the Tory doctrine. It took the Tories 14 years to trash the UK economy and voters expect Labour to repair it in 9 months. A significant portion of UK voters have goldfish brains. 🤦‍♂️

With the exception of a friend who is a doc, none of my friends caught C19. Sweden’s main shortcoming was the lack of thorough screening for staff entering elderly care and nursing homes at the beginning of the pandemic. Once this was addressed, the numbers declined. Sweden wasn't highest in Europe:

All this just to extend Trump's tax cuts for the ultra-rich at the end of the year. Meanwhile, MAGA supporters believe all these DOGE cuts and miniscule savings (relative to the US economy), will eventually lead to financial gain for themselves.
