After my arugula debacle in the spring and early summer I took a chance on planting green beans at the beginning of August. But now I’ve got fresh green beans in October! First harvest, more on the way.

Took the advice of @lukewinkie.bsky.social’s Slate article last fall to buy a frozen turkey on sale after thanksgiving and bust it out later in the year. Had it in the smoker all afternoon, can’t wait to taste it.

Also this Abelia is in a pretty sad state — it’s not variegated, just yellowing — but the bumblebees are crazy about it. I can’t seem to get more than one in the frame but there are at least a dozen on here eating their hearts out. After dark it’s the same with moths.

Planted arugula around my tomatoes to keep the weeds down, but it grew like crazy and then bolted when it was so hot a week and a half ago. Starting to doubt that I’ll get any tomatoes.
