I go by Nacreous Dreams (or Nacre), and I'm a traditional / multimedia artist and illustrated novelist. Currently, I'm creating an adult illustrated novel called "Symphony of the Soul".

Symphony of the Soul - Asher's Private Logs
Date: 2017, September 4th

This is the start of a series I'm doing called "Symphony of the Soul", which will have a more formal release alongside informal side-works. This is one such side work.

I hope you enjoy. This is the start of something big.
So today, I was pacing around the band room and working on composing a piece for the upcoming spring concert at my high school, right? And when I do that, you know, I tend to verbalize the music in my head. So if I'm tinging on the cymbal, I go *tss*tss*tss*. If I'm imagining a snare hit, I go Chh chh. Bass drum? Doom doom. Or maybe a Buuuuuu if it's, like, a really hard hit. Put that together and it sounds like: doom *tss*ch doom-ch *tss*ch doom *tss*ch doom-ch *tss*ch Pretty straight forward, right? But I decided to try and do it in the band room, and a student caught me doing it and asked me what I was doing. (I forget her name, I just know she was wearing this flower top, and I've seen her around the band room from time to time.) Now, I tend not to do this around other people, cause I'm worried they'll think I'm weird. Hey, surprise! She said she thought it was weird! But I explained it to her and she didn't get it. She just asked me why I didn't keep it in my head. But even when I told her that saying it out loud helps me think, she just kept getting on me about it. It reminds me of that time I was playing as a kid, and some other kid asked me to stop making sound effects while we were playing. Like, at least she was honest about it. Ugh... what a pain. It put me into an annoying daydream, and before you know it, I'm in Phantasia with a demon on my shoulder (to use an antiquated expression). A land of imagination is a great place to compose music, fantastic even! I've always got my head in the clouds, y'know? But if you lose a fight in there, your mental state is wrecked for the afternoon! Yeah, no, I'd like to not be shoved in the mind prison today, if that's quite alright. People already make fun of me as it is. I know they do, Naomi told me once. And you know what? I don't really mind. I'm weird, I know it. My dad's called me eccentric since I was a kid (lovingly, of course). Those people aren't the type of people I'd want to be friends with anyway.

Remade part of an old college project using physical media rather than its original vector art form. Not the most successful, but it's still quite evocative regardless.

Waves stretch across the jagged edges of this road-mountain, warbling like guitar twangs as they stretch onward down the lane. (Inspiration is Fancy Meat Computer, from Hylics 2.) This image is the same concept as the other, except drawn as vector art instead of alcohol marker. This is how the piece was originally made, as the fifth page of an 8-page comic inspired by the final boss music of Hylics 2. Which, by the way, CHECK OUT THAT PIECE OF MUSIC YESTERDAY, IT IS SO GOD DAMN GOOD.

"Paige Turner in Stasis"

An image of my OC, Paige Turner, being splintered through time. This was a really fun one, very involved but soooo rewarding. I've made a lot of Paige avatars for roleplaying purposes, but this might be the best of them all.

"Jellyfish Abstraction 1"

The first in a series of six images I created in college back in... 2020, I think? I made it as an exploration both of inking, and abstraction, and it's one of my favorite ink works to date.
