A beautiful day to take the 1.9 (San'an) flute and wee Hikari, the traveling Komuso, to the park and play some shakuhachi 🪈to the trees and wildlife. It hit 70° today, so was simply perfect! 🙏🏻❤️

Channeling my grandfather today with his coffee mug and some shakuhachi practice. He started to visit Japan in 1946 after discharge from the Navy and eventually moved to Sasebo and Fukuoka, living there till his passing decades later.

The 20m band finally opened up for me here at my QTH With two contacts made to South Africa! It's rare that I get this path down to SA, at 10,252 miles away. We all know how spontaneous the HF bands can be! And, I worked them with 60 watts. 🙂

The Dstar system is still going strong and works very well! This morning I'm using the Icom ID-51A plus 2 and my iPad for some DPRS and Venture Overland. Still my favourite talk group on TG31655 DMR and XLX303H on Fusion/C4FM.

Borrowed an Unun to check out some EFHW random wire sets I cut. So far I have a 33' and a 66' ready to go. Once I get a feel for how the G90 works with this set up, I'll buy an unun and have my own. Or build some dipoles with baluns. A fun antenna summer ahead!

After hours of work and a reprogramming of radios, an Openspot and code plugs for two Anytone 878's, I have successfully entered the realm of TGIF! I also applied for and was given my own Talk Group on TGIF! Classical Music is now on Talk Group 1860.

As much as I'd LOVE to invest in a Uniden SDS200 (bottom photo), the scanners I have do an admirable job! Current line up are the Uniden Bcd996t and Uniden BCD-436 handheld. Someday I'll get that SDS200!

Some APRS fun with the Kenwood D74! With this HT and the D75, one can add objects to the map with the GPS coordinates. I've added my workplace and FT Vancouver. One can also add vehicle accidents, road closures, etc as a temp object.

Self portrait using Tri-X black and white codes on the Nikon DSLR. The new codes also include some other Kodak and Fuji emulsions. I find that the Tri-X, which was my go to B/W film emulsion back in the 80's and early 90's, is the best so far.
