Islington is the 6th most deprived Borough in London. If you’ve not lived in, say, Holloway, Archway or Finsbury Park you might think of Islington as just Upper Street. As a teacher in the Borough I can assure you there is extreme poverty - just happens to be a stone’s through from extreme wealth.

The song is ‘The Angel’ and is written by Louis Dunford who was born and brought up in Camden and Islington, a lifelong Arsenal fan. He was also best mate of Ben Kinsella, a fellow pupil at Holloway School who was stabbed to death aged 16. Lots of N1 references in the song - ‘The Hemmy’ for example.
