- tax as share of GDP was 30.7 per cent in 1979
- it rose to 36.7 per cent in 1982 before dropping subsequently
- but in 1990 the ratio was still higher than at the start of her Tory government

A senior ambulance source has just now told me there are 400 ambulances waiting over an hour outside A&Es across England right now.
I'm hearing there is lots of struggling ambulance services today. Most at highest level of pressures and reports of 1hr 20 waits for cat 2 999 calls (thats suspected stroke and heart attacks). Flu levels may peak in next week too.

A lot of rich parents are very upset at the government for charging VAT on private school fees. Maybe they should instead ask why private schools have put up fees so far above inflation over the past 15 years. www.ft.com/content/852b...

The Chinese vessel Yi Peng 3 has been chased, intercepted, and boarded by Danish Navy vessel Y311 Søløven after the Chinese vessel destroyed 2 undersea telecom cables linking Finland-Germany and Sweden-Lithuania.
According to reports, the vessel sailed from Russia & the captain is Russian. 🇨🇳🇷🇺🇩🇰
