This Sunday I will be in Luke 19 looking at the story of Zacchaeus. This Jesus Mafa art causes me to ponder just how Zacchaeus was despised and rejected by the crowd in Jericho. I have to look for him in picture while Jesus quickly see him

In our Killdeer Mountain Table Talk this week the Lectionary took us to 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17 which is so relevant both to those whose end times theology promotes fear and to believers who in persecuted situations. Our Table Talks are on Substack as well as YouTube

For many years I assumed any person of faith could get to church on Sunday. Over the last years I have concluded there R a variety of good reasons that believers R unable to make it to a local church ranging from work schedule, disability, illness, and persecution open.substack.com/pub/davejenk...

This is today’s ordinary winter sunrise from the Wilton Free Church parsonage. In North Dakota the ordinary is magnificent! I’m so thankful to be here, and feel merciful to those who don’t have such stunning snow to reflect morning light

We read the Lectionary each week for our Table Talk. I am surprised each week the relevancy of the texts to our context. This week one reading discussed the nations giving glory to God. That's the reason we started these table talks open.substack.com/pub/davejenk...

Last Sunday, the texts discussed poverty. They push against Christo-paganism that concludes being on SNAP is a moral failing. In fact, the texts lead me to believe an economy that treats the poor with contempt has moral failings open.substack.com/pub/davejenk...

The Lectionary Texts for this past Sunday's Killdeer Mountain Table Talk took us to the practicality of the Bible teaching on being merciful to the poor. The economic research also tells us not see poverty as a moral failing open.substack.com/pub/davejenk...

This morning the dogs and I walked uphill about half a mile to the local meat market. We picked up 3 young organic turkeys 🦃. Carrying them the half mile home substituted for doing farmers walk exercise in the gym. We’re eager for our kids to visit and have turkey fajitas over the holidays

Today my son, Timothy and I visited the home of Pastor Senga. We discussed and prayed for several matters. The highlight was enjoying real chakula(food)! Yum 😋! Yum!

If you are concerned about being out in public know that God's people have gathered in quiet settings and taken in circulating communication from missionaries for thousands of years. 2/3

Thank you all who have sent encouragement and prayed this week for my sermon on Six Woes Jesus spoke in Luke 11:37 - 12:3! As I finished my sermon preparation this evening and came home to cook dinner the gentle fall rain brought this double rainbow with late fall colors and a sunset. I am hopeful!

This coming Sunday will be a tough one to preach. We’re in Luke 11:37-12:3 where Jesus proclaims 6 woes upon the Pharisees and Religious Scholars. My therapy animals thought I needed to know the Creator’s love as we reach this text so relevant and painful to American churches

God willing this coming Sunday I will be preaching on Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37.) I can’t think of a more appropriate teaching of Jesus to apply to America today. Prayers for my preparation are greatly appreciated

Two mornings ago I got a quick early morning bike ride in before I started running errands. There was a gentle rain. I saw the rainbow behind me and took a quick photo. I just realized how much of God’s created beauty has become ordinary in North Dakota as I didn’t look at the photo until now

Timothy’s grandpa bought him a rifle this summer. It took us a little time to get everything together as we had to order left handed plus parts and adjustments. Today on his birthday week we started shooting. Varmints beware

This evening I started reading Professor Harvey Kwiyani’s “Decolonizing Mission.” Here’s the first biggie that caught my attention. He sees British and American empires similar to the Roman Empire. Often missions then is only the activity of the wealthy and powerful. Yego. Yee. Ndayo. Agreed

4/4 Also, there is an increasing tendency for violence in American politics that needs for the Church to provide a path of peace. It seems that I should offer some thoughts and point people to some quality writing that can bring peace.

3/4 When I post others’ thoughts and writings, my Facebook gains traction. Lastly, I find this startling contrast in the tales of two different startups in Chicago that both often communicated about immigration. Those two contrasting results point to some troubling matters in the American Church.

2/4 I have pondered if I should communicate related to Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Who am I? I am just an old African missionary circuit preaching in North Dakota. Yet, social media has been actively discussing the events.
