I thought all the hedgehogs had hibernated but one came out for a snack last night and stayed for about 10 minutes. I leave food out all year just in case!

Saw a tiny hedgehog this morning when I reviewed the camera footage, (1min 59secs in) I put food out this afternoon and there it was, it's now on it's way to a rescue. It's cold and very wet here so it really needed help.

Dragonfly emerging
Something I forgot to post during the summer, a dragonfly emerging from its casing. It had climbed out of the pond and under the eaves of the shed. Nature always amazes and awes me.

It looks like there is only one hedgehog left in the garden that hasn't hibernated yet. It spends its time between the front and back garden but doesn't stay out for long now.

Hedgehogs in the feeders and a little one self anointing. These are from October, the little one ended up at the rescue as it came out during the day. It was released back to the garden last week.

Apart from the mouse right at the beginning I had another unexpected visitor last night. I very rarely get foxes in the garden despite living on the outskirts of a small town, in fact this is the first time I've seen one this year.

I'd suspected for a while that there were two hedgehogs in the new nest, last night it was confirmed when I caught two on camera emerging one after the other.

More hedgehog action from last night. Not a lot of visits as I think they are starting to hibernate now. The one in the nest is still taking the odd leaf in and coming out for the odd snack though.

The hedgehog visits are really slowing down now even though it has been exceptionally mild the last few days. The hedgehog in the nest is still coming out a few times a night for the odd snack.

Hedgehog action from last night. I had to take another one to the rescue as it was only 260g The hedgehogs here always late litters and some end up at the rescue because they are too small to survive winter.

HH was out during day yesterday and I took her to my local rescue. She is 302g. If you see a hedgehog out during the day please get it to a rescue as soon as possible.
