Wildlife rehabilitator. Love to read, hike, travel, and explore the area I live in
You CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Or in this instance a cat. Our ambassador bobcat Ruby is 19 years old and very overweight. We decided to try to train her to sit on a scale and to line up against the fence to receive an injection. We are in the early stages for that 🤣

Saw a quote yesterday that said
“You should only be striving to make two people proud- The 8 year old version of you full of dreams and the 80 year old version full of memories”
This helped me stop and think for a minute about what kind of life I want to live. I hope it helps you too

The baby horned lizard eats fruit flies but sometimes they escape. Never fear though. Our little helpful jumping spider takes care of them!

Have not posted in a while cause I have been in a bad head space. I needed to survive the holidays and I do feel better now that the year is almost done. I moved to a new apartment to get some separation between myself and my job and I feel like I can breathe in my own space

Baby javelina stomps - very intimidating. She has since been successfully reunited with her family and can be her sassy self out in the wild

The cats and I went home to NM for a week to try to heal, grieve and figure out the road ahead

The baby javelinas keep on coming. The older juvenile had pneumonia but has recovered. He stomps around huffing and is very sassy. We are hoping to reunite him with his family. The neonates mom was hit by a car and was sent to Southwest wildlife to be raised with other orphaned javelina

Our last juvenile turkey vulture of the season was released while adults were still in the area slowly migrating south.

This great horned owl was brought in because he was unable to fly. X-rays showed he had been shot 3 times. He was suffering from lead poisoning and had to be humanely euthanized. Almost all birds are federally protected and shooting them is a crime that can result in heavy fines or even time in jail

Even the smallest babies deserve a chance. Taking care of baby mice is delicate work and can be very challenging but they are worth it

This adorable hummingbird came and got a drink while I was taking a break next to a little stream in Madera Canyon

Our Sonoran Desert opossum was hit by a car and suffered a skull fracture. This can heal on its own with time and a little TLC. I’ve never worked with opossums in a rehab setting and the first time she “played dead” she tricked me. They really sell it with dead eyes, twitching, and not breathing 🤣

Happy Halloween!

Our juvenile spiny lizard keeps freaking me out. He loves his basking rock so much I have to do multiple life checks

Since I won’t be traveling much for a while I thought I would post some past fun trips like this trip New Orleans with my mom. We took a cooking class and she had a blast setting stuff on fire

Just another tiny elf owl. Has minor wing injury and a corneal ulcer. Once those resolve he should be able to be released

Our kingsnake likes to hide in tight spaces. This makes snakes feel more secure in the wild cause there is no space for predators to get them. This guy has a constriction injury after getting stuck in tubing as a much younger snake. Thankfully someone found him and brought him in for care

Baby javelinas are tiny chaos machines! Even newborn they have decent size canine teeth and a big attitude. Javelina can give birth all year round so baby season for these cuties never stops but it’s ok. We love them

Tanque Verde falls was flowing and was a beautiful and very enjoyable hike - once I got over the shock of it being a clothing optional trail 🤣

Trying to convince our baby woodrat to eat healthy natural food items. He said mmmmm no

Our single baby duckling is all grown up and able to be released. It’s hard to raise single babies without them becoming imprinted. We use feather dusters, mirrors and stuffed animals. Unfortunately, all I had was my puffin stuffie from Iceland. She loved it though

Hiked 7 falls trail in Sabino canyon. Really fun hike. Started at the visitor center so it was a total of 8.5 miles. Very little water. Maybe I should do it again after the rain we are supposed to get this weekend 🤣
