Day 3 of #WeekWithoutDriving! This pretty normal day for me, would be nearly impossible for many Americans because of how we build our communities. For others driving isn’t an option no matter how poor the conditions. We can do better!

I was horrified by the glare coming off this newly rehabbed building. It threw light into the windows of the home next door and was a bright eyesore on the whole quiet block. Fortunately, they installed full cut off fixtures a few days later. #darkskies

And the community has re-established the desire path behind the pharmacy dumpster which provides a reasonable-length detour to the first closure (for the able-bodied) but it slightly more circuitous following other recent construction.

And in unrelated news, down the street, FDOT is working on multiple corners of an intersection which have also been closed(?) for an extended period of time.

I like seeing new investment in our neighborhood but if a vehicle moving lane on a major street were closed for this long there would be a major outcry.

Pedestrians bridges are not for pedestrians. You have to go up 57 steps and down 57 steps so the cars don’t have to stop. What if you have a bag or a stroller? ~@Penalosa_G #fpc23

… and we have a created an environment where safe pedestrian movement is a "limited situation."
