The Boyne Valley was looking resplendent this morning after a cold night. Frost and a lingering mist over the River Boyne made for a stunning drone photo captured at Ardmulchan, a few miles east of Navan.

A rare hoar frost in the Boyne Valley, pictured almost a year ago. After sunrise, the hoar frost began to melt, leaving some of the #Knowth monument green, and the rest white.

Fourknocks is a small but remarkable Neolithic passage-tomb near the Boyne Valley in Ireland. A small mound, it has the largest chamber floor area of any excavated passage-tomb. Read more on www.mythicalireland.com

SOLSTICE IS COMING: as the sun stoops inevitably towards its lowest ebb, I look forward to the coming of Grianstad (stopped sun), the winter solstice and the magnificent illumination of the chamber of that extraordinary monument to the Neolithic human spirit, Síd in Broga (Sí an Bhrú/Newgrange).
