The reason for the attack was a retaliation after Israel broke the 2021 ceasefire deal. Boring parts of Gaza on offense.
They have yet to state their reasons why.

Hamas didn't even know about the festival, apparently the attack was meant to be on a later date, but there was a rush to plan it out after rumors of Israel planning to Nuke. A statement from the minister promising 'total silence' in Gaza.
