yippee, i love fiber arts + medieval art history
Textile with woven feline figure. Pre-Colombian Peru, created between 900-1430 CE. Housed with the British Museum, but not currently on display [878x1000] Textile is cotton with cat stitched in camelid wool (either from alpaca, llama, or vircuña) WIP of medieval cat embroidery seen in the previous photo done on brown aida cloth with black thread.

Elek stood in a stunned silence, mouth opening a couple times as if he was working out what he could possibly say to that. “Maker…” Yseult wavered, shifting all her weight to one side as her chest heaved with a sharp breath that made a front curtain of her hair flutter. “I’m not some damsel in distress for you to play the hero for.” “No one’s out playin’ any hero, Yseult...” Elek shook his head, brows furrowing. “Where’s this all comin’ from?” She looked at him with a dour expression. When the lamplight flickered just right, it lit up the mist in her eyes. She was afraid of something, he could tell that much. “Be honest, Elek.” Yseult shook her head. “If not for the prospect of having me in your bed, would you even bat an eye at those dead girls?” “What?” Elek blinked. A wry scoff in disbelief caught in his throat whilst he tried his damndest to keep a levelled tone. “Yseult—What kind of question is that?” “No one saves people like us, Elek,” she deadpanned. “It’s the way the world has always been. Slaves, whores—you can use them, you can fuck them, you can kill them. It never matters. Slavers and Magisters find replacements and Minrathous moves on.” “And you think I’m like that, do you?” Yseult turned her face away, dropping her gaze to the ground. Silence loomed between, only broken by the soft scuff of Elek’s boot as he faltered back a step. “Oh, I get it… You’ve got me all figured out for yourself.” He blinked the stinging from his eyes. “Guess I’ll just take my leave, yeah?”
