Got a (sealed!) copy of Biograph for cheap. REALLY enjoying it. I'm not a superfan, so this is perfect for someone like me. Sounds great, too, considering it's thin '80s vinyl.

Took a chance on a gospel record, ended up being roughly 140x better than expected. Just notice something that makes it 141x better. (It's probably him, too. Don't bother fact-checking. It's probably him.)

Some finds at Shake It Records in Cincinnati, which is legitimately one of the best record stores I've ever been to in terms of price, organization, and selection. Afghan Whigs was because I like to get one local artist in every city. Kenny Burrell/Gil Evans collaboration is *extremely* my thing

Not a bit, not a joke: I didn't see the "and" on the first read of this headline and was INCREDIBLY horrified and confused.

Found this a thrift store yesterday. It's just fingerpicking guitar and incredibly relaxing. Thought it would be a St. Patty's-only album, but it's good for the other 364 days, too.

Just had a friend show up at my door with three Swervedriver records that he got with points from donating blood. My recommendation is that you also get a friend like this.

Hand to heart, I swear on a stack of Sabbath records, this was the album I was listening to right before playing Wordle yesterday. Wasn't even thinking about it when I made my guesses.

Found a super clean copy of this at a Goodwill today. It's been on my wantlist forever. I would have paid up for it a long time ago if I'd known that John Coltrane and Doc Severinsen played on the same track.

Amoeba's bargain bin doesn't surprise that often, but it surprises enough. This is an incredible album that came with a bonus gift (a reminder to watch Inside Llewyn Davis again).

I just put this on, and now my Spoon records are all warped what the hell

MARKETING EXEC: Boss, I got a great idea for a tie-in. "Jazz & Blues." Get it, J&B? It'll highlight ...

MBA WHO GOT HIS JOB THROUGH FAMILY CONNECTIONS: Borrrr-ing. Blues is dead as dead. I saw something about this one guy the other day, though, maybe we can get him to personally endorse us.

Was in line at Disneyland five minutes after the rest of my family bought $70 sweatshirts. Got a Black Friday email from Blue Note to tell me that the Tone Poets were $30 off.

Might have gone overboard. Zero regrets.

This the best album of all time*.

* if you're limited to pretentious, ridiculous, and beautifully silly prog albums that you can find for $2 on Discogs right now.
