The Cantigas de Santa Maria are turning me into a Mary fangirl. They should put a warning label on medieval Marian devotion. ⚓

Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,
whose trust, ever childlike, no cares could destroy,
be there at our waking, and give us, we pray,
your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.

So far my Lenten practice of praying the daily office has lasted exactly one day. The food part is so much easier than the praying. Gotta keep trying I guess. ⚓

A reminder that Christians are called to action, not to sitting around wishing other Christians would read the Bible differently. Go out and speak out, and go be active in helping your community! Lead by example, not by intellectual arrogance.

Reflection for Ash Wednesday: remember you are dust and to dust you shall return.
In some ways this is a reminder of how radically equal we all are in the end. We all end up as dust, no matter who and what we were in life. It should be a call to reject the practice of othering completely.

This year my Lenten practice is somewhat different. I'll try and post a Lenten reflection every day, but I'm sure I'll forget some days
