Maybe one possibility would be to introduce different labeled rarities to stickers (akin to balatro), and have the rarer stickers cost more to upgrade, although i'm not sure whether that would make things too complicated.

i think one thing with that system is that i think people will pretty much exclusively upgrade their more powerful stickers, as why waste your ytps on upgrading a less powerful sticker when you can wait for a more worthwhile one.
