oh, thats probably fair!! there are some games designed with rules that are loose, oriented around vibes and narrative, and guide fiat/RP emphasis
and then theres games without that design philosophy. some of which slap on the "actually do whatever you want" for no reason at the end

its a matter of preference. im no less of a ttrpg fan just because i prefer loose guidelines, narrative emphasis, and heavy roleplay, just like a dungeon crawling war gamer is no less of a ttrpg fan just because they prefer a 16 hour tactical brawl spanning several sessions.

you compare playing soccer to kicking a ball in a field, or standing and talking. you say that soccer is the most fun of those activities. but id MUCH rather stand in a field talking to my friends than play soccer, because thats what is most fun for me. and id sooner play catch than football.

but i also respect and adore games with more general guidelines rather than rules, because framing those roleplay guidelines, though it is a different type of game and different type of art, still takes skill and creativity that deserves respect.

its just that the more strict and gritty the rules of a game are, the less I will personally enjoy that game. its a matter of preference, not a comment of quality. i have massive respect for the art of making gritty games where the rules are specifically balanced, harmonized, and laid out exactly

i like the thoughts in this thread, but i vastly prefer the RP over the G. i want the G aspect to be as minimal as possible to facilitate a baseline level of being sort of fair, and then aside from that, all RP and vibes :3
