Opinions are mine and not those of my employer
Every time I listen to or watch @kathygriffin.bsky.social I remember that so much of her icon status comes from being who she is and being a safe space, while rolling with the punches and never compromising herself to get an easy out. She makes me proud to be a Midwesterner and I 100% STAN. 🤩🤩😍

I was very excited to give my first-ever platform talks at #neuropath2025, concerning molecular and cytogenetic testing in meningiomas 🤓

Time for #neuropath2025 starting with the forensic neuropathology symposium!

I’ll be at the AANP, Neuropath version conference this week in Minneapolis if anyone wants to say hi 😊 (I’ll also be giving a platform talk on Saturday)
(And does the Neuropath AANP have an @ or #?)

Very happy that I’ll finally get to see @kathleenmadigan.bsky.social live when she comes to St. Louis in October 😊

Sometimes it’s the little things, like a neurosurgeon telling you that he’s really enjoyed working with you after you call back a frozen, that make the hours upon hours worth it. And that make me remember that I do, indeed, love my job. 🥰

Gave my second presentation at WashU Neurosurgery’s quarterly grand rounds. There’s a certain amount of adrenaline that comes with talking about interesting neuropath cases at 7am 😅

The greatest sin a pathologist can commit is to be incurious and complacent, which applies to both one’s cases and to *gestures* everything that’s happening in the global sphere

Just finished a series of interviews for an autopsy position; I had a lot of thought-provoking conversations and gave a presentation on two topics (neuro-autopsy and digitization in pathology & medical education) that I'm very passionate about

@kathygriffin.bsky.social watching your specials on Apple TV makes me think back to high school summers where I’d watch you on Bravo in the morning. And here we are about 20 years later - we’ve picked up some battle wounds (will always stand with you on HeadGate btw) but are still going strong 😊

I’ve followed this website since before medical school; this is one of those posts that applies not just to radiology but every specialty in medicine, and really to learning as a whole (whether related to medicine or not).

There’s abundant advice about choosing good mentors, and it should definitely be heeded. But, when it’s distilled down, everyone in your life is a mentor. They teach you what to do or not do, help you discover bits of yourself, and leave you different than how they found you.

To quote David Strathairn in ‘Good Night,
And Good Luck,” the phrase “for I wish to say (rather) precisely what I mean” is the clarion call of both journalism and of pathology. Which could very well be why I keep going back to this movie again and again to the point where it’s in my Apple library

Anyone with an interest in neuropathology should check out the AANP teaching rounds. They’re free for members, $5/yr for non-member trainees, and $100/yr for non-members. The teaching rounds cover a variety of topics, and have been a great supplement to my education

Now that I’m almost 6 months in, the biggest change between residency and fellowship is that in the latter, both your attendings and attendings in other specialties see you as a colleague and you feel on more equal ground 😊
