Where I live the national socialist issues in Ukraine aren’t common knowledge. I told someone that reading headlines + vibes + no research might lead to supporting national socialists in Ukraine. Their facial expression is haunting me. Like they thought I lost it & were too polite to point it out

Nor interested in socialism. It’s about as left as AOC, Mamdani etc. There’s a ML party that in 2025 ran on the slogan Make Socialism Great Again while declaring all and any socialist countries as failures / traitors.

It the same in Germany. The communist party was banned in the 1950s in West Germany. The collapsed GDR was folded into the FDR at great loss. Later the Linke (left) party was created by a social democrat and a couple of former GDR politicians. The Linke is not antiimperial.

And from my brief meetings with some of them and my readings of their materials, my impression was that they tended to be very facile, within a tradition of attempting to be clever-the idea was who could put forth clever formulations. In fact, I found a couple of them that I met to be upsetting even in the kinds of relationship one had with them. Well, maybe some cops wouldn't want to sit near a stinking/bleeding/urine-soaked detainee. I just did some more research, and I guess the script goes: "I am invoking my right to remain silent and will not answer questions. I need to use the bathroom."

How does one handle needing to go to the bathroom? Sandwich it between I plead the fifth, need to go to the bathroom, demand to speak to a lawyer?
