Oleksandr Zibrov, a 36-year-old firefighter, has passed away in Kyiv. He was injured during a repeated Russian strike on January 9 in the Darnytskyi district. Together with his comrades, they saved residents and extinguished fires in apartments.

President Zelensky confirmed that 157 Ukrainians have been returned home in a prisoner exchange after a long pause. They include service members of the Armed Forces, National Guard, Border Guard Service, and civilians. Most had been held since 2022.

President Zelensky rejected Russia’s ultimatum on recognizing Donbas, saying Ukraine has its own president who signs documents for the country. He stressed that Ukraine’s territories belong to Ukraine despite their temporary occupation and said no other leaders can decide this for Kyiv.
