Stick with it. The first 100 pages are a drag but the first book ends so well i think. Am almost at the end of the final book in the series now and it is clearly a MASSIVE inspiration for asoiaf. Agree that some of the fantasy tropes in these novels are a bit outdated now... but worth sticking with.

Yeah I think it’s his best work, from everything I’ve read. V different from ice & fire! I’ve got Fevre Dream coming and will get round to all the others soon but I’d be surprised if anything lived up to Dying of the Light
