Forgot to share how much fun the family had this weekend celebrating the gumbo of cultures in NOLA at our first parade of the Mardi Gras season (Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus) and the Tet Festival. Surprised I made it through lecture this morning 🫠 #HappyNewYear 🐍

Yesterday I visited the amazing faculty and students at Xavier University of Louisiana’s Biology department. I got a chance to talk about my research and the importance of HBCUs. Laying down the foundation for something great to come.

We had our first official lab meeting today! I’m so excited to see my team grow and thrive. Not everyone was photo ready so all you get to see is the Green baby from our Banana Fosters King Cake 🥳
