This striking, fuzzy fly (Eudasys ophrys Whittington [Platystomatidae]) caught my attention when sorting a box of (largely unidentified) Diptera from Nigeria—never know what you'll in a collection! #PERCBugs #FlyFriday

A plump, fuzzy bee fly sits on a dead pine needle on the ground. It has a white face and rump, and maroon eyes, but the rest of the body is black, with half black wings. A gray and black peacock fly. It's holding its wings upright, with their undersides showing forward. The wings are spotted, and the fly looks like a peacock. A small, elongate fly with small mirror patches on it. It has huge red eyes making up most of the head. It's resting on a leaf. An extraordinarily thin black crane fly. The thin wings are also wrapped around the body, giving it a stick-like appearance. It has pale legs with dark knees.
