I know it sounds cliche but you really captured that scene. Thought it was a photo at first. Amazing stuff.

It's been a long time, but I remember using TweakUI for some of the custom stuff. Lots of things you can mess with.

I finally broke down and bought a Pi 5 yesterday. I set up my Pi 4 firewall several months ago, dual NIC hat on it, but that connection is over USB and I don't trust it to be reliable, getting some kernel errors. So, a PCIe hat it will be.

I have never used the non-Pro version of any Microsoft product so never got to experience the joy of the Home version interfaces. I think they peaked with Bob.

I live in WA, the hops capital of the world. Go to a grocery or liquor store, there are at least 2 dozen different types of IPA, but good luck finding a decent lager. It's insane.

Agreed, XP was the last Windows OS I ran at home before I switched to Linux. I have used Windows for work, every version since XP, but they pay me for that. Which makes it tolerable.

I run a stack of Raspberry Pis for my firewall, net services, app servers, etc. They have been running non-stop for about 5 years. Kind of bulletproof. Even have one in my 4x4 in case I want to use a telco repeater to access the internet. My server 'cabinet' is now the size of a shoebox. I like it.

I am setting up my first 3D printer today. I wanted to build an enclosure for it, and make it more or less airtight. I also wanted to make sure it was level, so I installed a 20 gallon bubble level on top.

OK it's an aquarium. Same effect.

Plasma is the flashiest desktop, and has the most features, but unless you have some horsepower behind your VM I would choose a lighter desktop like Cinnamon. The Debian package is a little behind the normal dev cycle but it is a clean, lightweight, and bug free desktop.

I thought I was the only one that called them Microshaft. It should really be more popular.

My favorite lines from that album:

Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream

Wave upon wave of demented avengers marched cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream

I have not felt this way since a few weeks ago when the company I worked for told me I need to return to the office, which I had never been to, or any office for 15 years over 3 companies. So I got let go.

Yup, turns out I was ready for this shit. 'This shit' being early retirement.
