It will always amaze me how we can visualize the location of our protein of interest inside a cell. This is possible thanks to fundamental science, as scientists studied how a species of jellyfish generates light.

🍄: Aspergillus fumigatus

The R01 general goal was to see if targeting septins could make antifungals more effective. We found that it does! Instead of stopping the growth now the drug kills the fungus! Deleting septin + treatment increased survival to over 70% compared to WT infection of 30%. 3/n

My Lab had some fun doing AgarArt while I’m away. The used a wild-type Hortaea and albino Hortaea mutant to draw on agar.

4) the @mblscience.bsky.social Whitman Fellowship allowed me to dedicate my summers to developing these strategies and collaborating with others interested in this problem. Here is a photo of when I saw for the first time that Hortaea was expressing GFP! 3/5
