It may also just be a "it's a lot if work to add private accounts to a system not designed to have them and it's more effort than we think it's worth" situation that they're covering with implications of a grander intent. Kind of feels like somewhere between the two.

I just remember seeing a page about "what a public site means" that specified that all posts are visible to everyone. Maybe that's changed, given blocks don't seem to follow it

They claim that it's antithetical to a fully public website. Which like. If that's what they want it to be, I guess, but that means I can't move over here full time because nobody I actually talk to on twitter wants to deal with having a public profile.

Nah there's too small of a user base, so the site shows anybody who talks about [thing], even once, every tweet about [thing], positive or negative.

Then the only way to find any new content is basically keyword searching the whole site.

I don't want to buy over Amazon, nor do I want to go to Target. I *could* go to a place an hour away, but if anybody who makes Gear™️ also happens to be willing to sell belts, that's even better.
