We went on a beautiful hike. It was -5c to start then warmed up to 3c, but it was a sunny clear day. No trail, just route finding our way.

My husband and our husky Sofi starting out with a beautiful morning light in the forest. The blueberry bushes glowing reds under their feet. My favorite forests are untouched by chainsaws. Some beautiful mountains in the distance. A beautiful tarn with a skim of ice, but enough to still see shadows on the ice of the trees and the blue sky reflecting.

The beautiful Fall colors mixed in around the estuary of Oyster River into Pearl Lake were so enticing. I was wishing to paddle this so much. Some small islets dotted Pearl Lake. Again wishing I had my kayak.

I have been dying to see this lake for so many years, it has been behind locked gates. Today it was open 💕 It was so pretty with different shades of blue green and dotted with small islets. Nestled between the mountains. Some Fall colours in the foreground and Mt Mitchell in the back. We drove up those logging roads until we couldn't then walked another 5 kms to check out the views.

STEVE is not an aurora but a distinct atmospheric phenomenon known as Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement. He was shining across the tops of the trees from my yard last night. It was beautiful.
First named by citizen scientists, STEVE appears as a thin, pinkish-purple ribbon of light that is often seen with auroras, but its cause differs: it involves a ribbon of hot, fast-moving plasma driven by a strong electric field, rather than charged particles exciting atmospheric molecules. I captured Steve from my backyard last night shining like a pink magenta lazer light across the top of the trees. We all enjoyed our hike to the summit of Mt Drabble. It was an overcast day but the Fall colors were still popping. Stopped to enjoy some sweet blueberries.

Our husky Sofi in front of the summit cairn. The sun was trying real hard to shine on the small tarn. We could see glimpses of blue through the cloud in places. The meadows were so vibrant with different shades of red, pink, orange, yellow, browns and of course green.

We had a great day in the mountains Sat. The smoke was pretty thick though and you could feel it on the hike. There was a fire across from us. I was pining for another chance to see these lakes. They are gorgeous! Vancouver Island, BC

As we crested the col the beautiful turquoise of the lakes below come into full view. My husband as we were just coming up onto the ridge. This place feels magical to me with the beautiful, greens and blues of the lakes dancing to catch your attention. The lakes surround a smaller mountain as seen from the ridge.

Took off for 3 days 2 nights into the sub alpine. It was too hot for this old girl to be on the ridge with no trees for shade.
We had the perfect quiet spot by the pond for the night. Our tents reflections in the water with the mountain as a backdrop. I managed to catch the milky way in the middle of the night. A pretty green lake we sat and had a snack and soaked in the view. A pretty lake with mountains in the background.

The pink water lilies are out in our pond. I love how vibrant they are. They float in a sea of chickweed. The ducks and herons usually make a stop for a snack.

We lost our sweet boy Zeus. He was only 4. Our world is feeling very empty at the moment as we grieve him. His sister is missing him too.

Took the pups for a hike in the mountains today. Explored around several gorgeous lakes. We stopped and ate lunch by the lake with waterfall noise.

Had to stop for a pic of this beautiful little creek with gorgeous shades of green Alone Mt is aptly named as it stands alone in the landscape. We explored a few emerald green lakes today. Our huskies were so happy to find some remnants of snow on our hike today. The mosquitos were horrendous!

Out for another quick hike to see if the meadows were passable yet. Still soggy but soon. It was a nice day. My mind was on a friend who lost his battle with Cancer yesterday. He was a fighter.

The lake outlet was high so we put on the wster shoes and crossed with the pups. They don't mind the water. A pretty little tarn glistening in the sun. The first big lake we pass. The sign says McKenzie Lake. Looking at the lake through the trees.

Took the pups and husband for a nice 15km river hike. We were lucky to be under the cover of the forest so it wasn't too warm. Beautiful day.

Today we went for a nice loop around a beautiful lake. Just over 11 kms. The pups were quite happy to be out on the trails.

Death Camas flower. So pretty with the soft yellow and white multi flower heads. Such a cool hollowed out tree base. My husband and the dogsstanding in front but could have fit inside. Zeus was very happy to be out on the trails today. He liked the soft moss underfoot. The trail was a loop around the lake. In places it was a beautiful emerald green through the trees.

One of my favorite experiences. We snowshoed in to this frozen waterfall and we could climb up behind it.
