One fun thing about my cluttered working environment is that when a Focusmate partner says "Is that a..." I never know how that sentence will end 😃

If you like...

* wickedly funny revisionist fairy tales!
* genre-savvy protagonists!
* hamsters of unusual size!
* trans representation!
* queer romance!

...then you should probably try "This Princess Kills Monsters," by Ry Herman. 😊

According to the product label, "Malt syrup, white granulated sugar, glutinous rice paper powder (edible starch), food additives (carrageenan, carnauba wax, titanium dioxide, lemon yellow, sunset yellow) food flavor."

But also:

"This product contains peanuts, soybeans, nuts and their products"

I preordered signed copies of @lenniesaurus.bsky.social's books back at the start of April, and I hadn't been sure if the tarriff changes between then and now would put the kibosh on that, but apparently the parcel is now in the post! It's very exciting.

When they came out with limited-edition key-lime-pie Oreos, I got only one pack, and I am not making that mistake a second time. The apple-pie ones are out now and they're GOOD.

Oh, the cover of the upcoming 2026 World Almanac is online!

It's due out December 2, and I'm among the actual human beings working to gather and vet all the information in it.

I'm told it makes a great stocking stuffer, if you have big stockings!

(It's much harder to gift-wrap Wikipedia.)

In the U.S., at least, the World Almanac is still going, and we're working on the 2026 edition right now! (I have similar memories of childhood almanac trawling, and I am still delighted that I get to work on them. 😊)

Okay, I admit that the pride in finishing my first cross-stitching project was blunted a bit when I hit the line in the instructions saying that I should get an adult to help me iron it, but whatever, this is a cute kitten.

Taking a break from fact-checking the meteorology statistics in the upcoming edition of the World Almanac to remind everyone that we have an unabridged copy of the Constitution in there! In the 2025 edition, it starts on page 483.

I forgot about that one!

I just did today's, which I had to figure out from the bottom up. 😅

I never got around to sharing this, and maybe I should?

If you want to tone down the bright yellow sidebar on the Chicago Manual of Style website, here's a Tampermonkey script to turn it gray instead. (You can copy/paste the alt text.)

[OLJ peeps: Yes, I appreciate the irony.]
