Other sources of inspiration are the half-bird half-fish medieval paintings when the word siren was transitioning from one meaning to another. Also made the "wings" slightly insect-like for no reason other than bottlebees (blue bottle flies) are my fav animal in the whole world (THEY'RE SO PRETTY)

So I've always seen the sirens from the Odyssey as half-bird, but since my bday cake's walls, where the sirens will be placed, represent the sea, I had to go with half-fish. But plot twist: IT'S A TYPE OF FISH CALLED FLYING FISH !!! And they got the "wings" instead of the arms :]
