It also feels like if we truly want to celebrate mothers we should be taking care of them. Meaning: sexual and reproductive health care and education, abortion access, federal paid leave, accessible childcare, equitable and culturally responsive care, and so much more.

As someone who was trafficked through adoption and never got to know one mother and was harmed by another mother and has never known that bond or unconditional love today feels like a day of emptiness and isolation, and I know I'm not the only one.
