sorry if this thread is mean but also she's a bestselling author whose books i've spent money on so i'm entitled to criticise them. i do thank mcfadden for writing books i can read over a few days when i can't face reading/listening to a remotely complex book.

i probably won't read the housemaid or watch the movie, but yeah it did kind of strike me that the trailer seemed to be going for something almost quirky, if that's the right word, whereas the mcfadden books i've read are written in an almost wooden way. sydney sweeney acts how mcfadden writes, imo.

like her plots could make for cool stories if she wrote them in a way that that had any kind of descriptiveness or attempts at setting tone beyond the narrator saying something edgy in an attempt to seem sinister. like it reads like anyone could've written it, probably a teenager.

i saw the trailer for the housemaid today and while i won't judge its quality, at the very least it looks kinda of like there's a distinct style and flair they've gone for. whereas mcfadden's books that i've read are written in a way that's very vapid and generic.

and they sent me a link to a post 'debunking' the claims that he's a zionist. 'guys he wasn't making or selling those stickers he was just sitting with them'. deleted the post not because i changed my mind but because i don't want ST fans to feel emboldened to bother me lol
