Our only chance against AI out of control is with AI that works for us

It’s dogwood “flower” season in Washington, D.C. (Those are actually petals). These are what inspired my design for the DOTES spiral. Learn more about what makes Dotes special in my comment below

People are struggling. And in that struggle, many still believe—honestly and earnestly—that protesting, lecturing, discourse, debate, and civil action are the pathways to change.

It’s a seductive belief.
But it’s also, in this moment, heartbreakingly ineffective…

With the dissolution of the social safety net, we will see the resurgence of mutual aid societies in a variety of incarnations. I'm particularly interested in ones we can build to harness the power of technology, using those ecosystems to embed democracy into AI and share in its rewards.

The 5 things you did at work last week email isn’t about accountability- it’s about automation. Run all the responses through an AI model and you get a description of everything that can be replaced by AI agents working at lightning speed.

To build trust in the digital world—spanning the internet, metaverse, and smart devices—we need digital identities that truly represent us. This starts with personhood: a secure, consistent way to prove who you are, control your data, and ensure everyone has a voice in our shared digital future.

We need provisions for humans, our Reps (AI agents that represent individuals), and bots. Authentic, anonymous, and pseudonymous identities. We can solve the deepfake problem and build information ecosystems with trust based on this. #Tridentity #TriDATS #AI #deepfakes #personhood

The communication channels for innovation prioritize competition of ideas for scraps of exploitative venture capital and Red Teaming for dopamine instead of collaborative investigation and understanding. The ideas and innovators are right in front of our eyes, but we're too blind to see them.

Neurosymbolic AI won’t be transformative until we couple it with a different approach to data inputs, training, and supervision. The graphs must work differently than the ones being used for GenAI. This will be how we establish Implication Models as a compliment to Inference Models.

This platform will come next. It’s inevitable when profits propel our digital public sphere. The modern tragedy of the commons.

The masters’ tools will never dismantle the masters’ houses.

Bluesky is just another master’s house

We must take those tools and build new homes by/for/of #WeThePeople.
