You can actually thank the two party system for that. The founding fathers warned against a two party political system. Specifically because it would cause a divide amongst the people. This has been brewing in the US for many, many generations. We are just seeing it more fiercely now.

Most of this has been caused by a two party political system and the divide that it has caused. If people only listened to our founding fathers. What we are experiencing now is a direct result of centuries of political divide and hate mongering.
