Men and women have their issues on their own. Stop demonizing all men like that. IT'S IGNORANT AND STUPID. And is not what feminism is about. Yes, a lot of men abuse women and that's terrible. But men suffer their own issues too. Not everything is black and white. WAKE UP.

If he says that it means he actually doesn't care about trans people.

I think open source programs are trying to prevent patent claims or copyright issues. If they do things just like Clip Studio or Photoshop they could get in trouble.

I install krita on Arch-based distros so to me it works fine form arch repositories. But who knows, I might be missing something.

Well, I think David Revoy and Ramon Miranda are some of the best choices to look for Krita guides and tutorials. And I also think Rakkuri is another Krita artist, They are all on youtube.

I think Krita is a way better option. Even without the brush issues.
March 16, 2025 at 2:02 AM
In my case it kinda gets solved when you enable "zero pressure on both ends" at the top right. But I think one or two pen and pencil brushes feel more like they draw a lot of dots together instead of lines. Also pen pressure on all brushes feels weak. Almost unnoticeable.

Is that the appimage from the website?
March 16, 2025 at 1:37 AM
Oh that's bad. I'll try it later and see if the same happens to me.
March 15, 2025 at 9:42 PM
Yeah. But I think eventually Wayland is going to be as complete as x11 for graphics and tables. For people like me who directly uses the proprietary driver and don't have to deal with professional printing atm, everything works fine on that regard.

Yeah, that's one of the weakest niches on Linux right now. Professional graphic design and Illustration. But hopefully gaming on Linux will make more people migrate to the system and eventually more companies will start supporting it. because honestly, Wine is not the answer.

I see.

Linux is janky. We can't tell people Linux is technically better because it's not. It has it's technical advantages but those don't necessarily win over the disadvantages. GNU/Linux is more about ethics, community and having more control, privacy, etc. That's the main reason people use it.

...And if you have multiple displays of different refresh rates, you can only get all of them to the Hz of the lowest display.
March 12, 2025 at 12:48 AM
I personally can't use X11 because I have a 4k monitor and upscaling for 4k is almost impossible on X11. Also, I use an XP Pen display tablet which only has 60Hz and my main monitor has 144hz...

Yeah, somehow he's getting by with everything free and open source. His bigger concerns are color calibration, CMYK and professional printing. I guess a Hobbyist or anyone only doing digital art can work with technically any modern distro.
March 12, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Also, I don't know how good it is personally, but Firealpaca is also available on Linux. It's the program Medibang Paint is based on.

You should check David Revoy's guide here if you haven't yet. He addresses most of the issues on Linux for professional creatives. He even talks about possible missing features of Krita if you install it using flatpak or any common distro's package manager.

With open source I guess you need to learn how to use several programs in order to fulfill what you can do with just a proprietary one. For the Krita 3d Stuff I've read there is a plugin to view Blender's editor on Krita or something Like that.
March 10, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Yeah, that's one thing I thought about. Krita needs 3d support. And probably some kind of "asset store".
March 10, 2025 at 11:24 AM
Krita is great for a program that is free (as in free beer). Considering other free alternatives like fire alpaca or medibang, Krita isn't too bad. The other two make the creating of comics easier though. Blender on the other hand, is powerful as far I understand. But yeah, It's kinda hard to learn.
