Writer. Gamer. Witch. Dungeon Master.

I'm an obsessive Canadian writer and somewhat drowning game design student. I have a series of 12 novels currently in progress, with 8 mapped out in detail, and my first manuscript almost finished.
Here, a shot of what I think is page 31 of my rough draft of my manuscript. It's an emotional moment for my MC, given that...well, I think I'll let all of you try to figure out what's going on now. 😉

And now we come to the Feast of Samhain, the beginning of the winter months and a time of rest.

Cozy up with a blanket, a book, and something warm. And just...give yourself time to breathe, to relax, to recharge.

And maybe enjoy this holiday card I made in Illustrator.

I've finally unburied myself from most of my assignments and projects until the end of the month (with only one left that needs any sort of working on). So, I've decided that today is going to be a day of relaxation and creativity.

💖I made this in Adobe Illustrator tonight for a friend of mine who is having her birthday today. Now, I'm putting it out there to send the wishes out into the world for her on her special day before her music livestream tonight.💖

In the #writing of this poetry, I had to grapple with the difference between historical accounts and performance #poetry. While the poem/lyrics (if it's being performed spoken or as a full bardic performance) might sound nice when they rhyme, their historical accuracy...may not be quite there.

Part 6 to the Lay of Karthalan. The final stand of Averath and Karthalan is where this poem started to show its true colours. Crimson blood and golden flame, as the king of the dragons and the champion of the giants go to battle one last time.

Here's a hot take on #writing concerning a small web of spin-offs from my current #WIP and how my once small fictional universe continues to expand across its 3000 year human-recorded history

I brainstorm best when I get angry. And the more ethically and morally bankrupt, the better my inspiration.

Dissatisfaction with something I've written is one of the biggest challenges I face in writing. Often, I find myself wondering if words can truly describe the wondrous things I can see. Sometimes, words fall short. Other times, they inspire.

Well, this thing is AI, which means that it's only really good as a concept reference (its lovely, but the front angles, as expected, aren't quite right). This is sort of the idea I had for the landscape? Or, at least the colour palette and general arrangement is. (Yes, there's multiple moons).
October 8, 2025 at 1:10 PM
Actually, THESE are the concepts I mentioned. I put these together in Adobe Illustrator, playing around with shapes and borders and colour palettes.

I've been working on some rough layouts for the composition of a book cover tonight for my #WIP. Nothing fancy, nothing done in illustrator, just REALLY rough sketches so that I can get an idea of how to orient everything for the actual design.

Tonight, I decided to practice drawing cliffs for the first time. I figured that since I'm designing my own cover for my #WIP, then I might as well get started doing the concept art for my landscapes.

I tried a few different techniques, but if anyone has advice, I'd appreciate tips.

Part 4 of the Lay of Karthalan.

Sometimes, my writing surprises me. I'll be plodding along, following a plot thread, or a character arc, or even a bit of poetry.

Suddenly, the plot takes over, or a character decides that they suddenly feel like being INTERESTING.

The Lay of Karthalan - Part 3

One of the creative choices that I made with the worldbuilding for my novels, my current #WIP was to go Celtic-themed instead of Norse.

Let's have some more concept art from my #WIP.

A favourite instructor of mine told us to NEVER use lens flares in Illustrator (I think something terrible hurt her and that makes me very sad.)

However! I have found the appropriate place in Illustrator for lens flares!

Today, I felt another wonderful creative spark.

The economy is pretty central to a lot of worldbuilding, whether you're writing a series of novels or designing a video game. So, I've had coinage on the brain lately.

When I started rewriting Song of the Stars, I wasn't prepared for the questions I had to ask myself about how society itself evolves.

When I was younger, writing a story felt…so simple. Have a good story, make good characters, follow a plot. ABSOLUTELY make sure that there are no plot holes, often seen by readers as the result of tired authors or lazy writing.

I enjoyed it, I did.

Then, there was so much more.

The second part to the Lay of Karthalan.

Here, the tension between the giants and the fae only just begins to rise, for never before have the two peoples found themselves face to face.

And after a few hours of work, I now have 4 concept options. I have deep purple options for the night sky, and I have purple to blue options to reflect the environment that the main character finds himself in.

These are still concept pieces. But thoughts are welcome.

Alright, I now have three versions of my book spins and I'm very happy with the progression.

The first version has the moons shadowed.

The second version has cutouts to make the moons crescents.

The third version foregoes the golden border.

I wonder which is best.

I spent some time playing around in Illustrator today and felt inspired to design some book covers for my stories. Little did I know I was going to go down a design rabbit hole and end up focusing on the spine first.

I'm rather proud of how my concept art turned out.

If the meter and rhyming look a little strange, worry not. It isn't your eyes deceiving you, or your brain playing a trick of mischief. This is not poetry, in a sense. It is not here to be read or spoken, but heard as song in tavern halls.

With copious mead and ale.

After spending the last several days designing the economic framework for a nation with eight kingdoms (yes, the politics get LOUD) in my fantasy world, I then proceeded to sketch and do a basic colouring of the northwestern part of the continent of Illithine.
