Perhaps not and perhaps she was even being melodramatic. I don't know how much physique plays into fencing. But clearly there are enough female athletes to produce regular examples of this kind of thing, so trans activists have gotta stop it with the "but it's just so *rare*!" deflection.

It's been estimated that perhaps 122,000 trans kids are playing in high school sports, even if just internally.

About half of kids play sports. If half of trans kids also played sports, that would be ~150k, so it passes the smell test. There are only about 35,000 middle and high schools in the US.

Excessive focus on NCAA competition over just school sports more broadly explains why no trans activists noticed that this was a big problem: what people were seeing on the ground wasn't gelling with the stats. That said, leave it to trans activists to bend over backwards justifying why this is OK.

Not following the rules of war is actually a great deal if you're at the top of the food chain of a unipolar world. You get to win wars faster and more efficiently.

It's less of a great deal if you are fighting from an even or disadvantaged position!

I'm not saying it's not worth the risk. But it's not like most of them came legally and then we rugpulled them (like we're doing for the Ukrainian refugees!), they knew it was illegal from the beginning and sticking your political neck out to spare them consequences is a losing battle right now.

Using the word "illegal" to describe their unlawful presence in the country shouldn't be controversial. And I'm pro-open borders, I think virtually everyone who wants in should be admitted. But "undocumented" obfuscates the fact that their nonrepresentation is of their own making.

I've seen no evidence the party takes Yglesias' suggestions even half-seriously as a matter of national organization.
