Seems to be a good year for native #ladybirds this year, in Yorkshire at any rate. Have seen many more this year than previously. Not seen a single harlequin yet.

This #VEDay concert is moving in ways I never imagined. Hearing from the people who lived through it, not just those who fought it, is really hitting home. Well done all involved ✌🏻🇬🇧

Very sad to hear that the Tony Award-winning American composer & lyricist William Finn has died at the age of 73. His work included Falsettos, A New Brain, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee & Elegies: A Song Cycle. I feel privileged to have interviewed him for The Stage back in 1999

I have a wonderful memory of her sitting by my keyboard in the stalls bar of the New Wimbledon Theatre savaging a girl who was late! Nothing was more important to her than pride in your work, and all her pupils knew it.

It’s time for my annual search for this C16th miniature portrait of #ThomasCromwell, after #Holbein, stolen from Hever Castle in 2003. I’d love to see it returned to Hever. Have you seen it? Pls consider sharing!

“Most gracyous prynce I Crye for mercye mercye mercye”. I love this beautiful recreation of #ThomasCromwell’s ‘mercy’ letter by Rosie Carmichael. Giving historical guidance on these stunning props was a huge honour. I do so hope that you enjoy this evening's devastating finale of #WolfHall.

"He is the last faint ripple in the wake of himself." I've just watched the last #WolfHall and now won't be speaking for around 6 hours.

Nov 24, 1963: Jack Ruby shoots Lee Harvey Oswald, two days after JFK’s assassination.

Best thing about Sunday mornings now is watching #WolfHall on iPlayer and not having to wait until it is broadcast. Mark Rylance's embodiment of this part still surprises week on week.

This is actually full of good reporting on casualization of UKHE at even the most prestigious institutions. And the fact that the Observer pressed Christ Church directly on ad wording, and then reported on the college's sidestepping is nothing short of astonishing.
