Not just China...a lot of other countries are steadily picking up the researchers this admin is driving away. It's going to hit hard down the road.

It's coming from a person who isn't sure the presidential oath he took means that he swore to uphold the constitution, so he's obviously not up on the military requirements of the office, as well.

The potential for financial gain from endorsement/association with the WH is such an important aspect of this.

It's not schadenfreude to say it. The road out of this is going to be long and difficult and tragic for a lot of folks. The question I concentrate on is: How do we forge a new understanding from this pain...especially when it's clear how little was learned from the past lessons?

How can people not understand? It's because up until now, there were policies working to insulate them from the consequences of their rhetoric and conspiracy theories. People saw only what they hated/wanted to see and ignored everything else quietly working in their favor. And this is only the tip..

There's a lot of stuff - esp. from the Social Work days - that I need to update & I'm starting to work specifically on hospice training, but I'm looking forward to seeing where this leads. Right now I'm just keeping it low-key & registering for local needs...but the door has been opened.

And in many of these cases, religion (usually fundamentalist) has played a very negative role in the mental health issues. I.e., Seung-Hui Cho - when the explanation for the problem is "demonic power" rather than "untreated mental disorder," adding more religion isn't going to help reduce violence.
