Yes, great dissertation idea. The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History has a large collection (20 archival boxes) of “product cookbooks” ripe for research.

Yes, especially since Johnson’s usual response to reporters’ questions over the past few months has been, “I haven’t seen it; I haven’t heard about it; I’m not up on that issue.”

I love the convoluted histories of memes; reminds me of how traditional stories by bards etc. vary by the teller sometimes. Or the game of “telephone” where messages get garbled as they pass from one speaker to the next. But they’re close enough that some folks will say, “yeah that thing!”

LOL, at the time it came on the scene, the gif was called “Dramatic Woodchuck” (that’s how I remember it), but according to Wikipedia it’s a Prairie Dog but also called a Chipmunk by some. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dramati...

Yes, I recently saw the 2025 reissue of 1950s Sunset Boulevard in a theater and it was great. I wish more “Golden Age of Hollywood” films were replayed in local theaters.
