Music, caffeine, and useless information
I agreed to cover a shift tomorrow morning. I don’t know who I was when I agreed to wake up at 0400 to go to work on the day after Thanksgiving, but she’s an asshole.

Been getting back into Muay Thai after a few years away - it both feels like I’m actively dying and amazing at the same time. I’ve missed it so much. This look of concentration is called “don’t throw up.” Stoked to keep training with them.

I don’t know who I angered to have had to deal with going to Costco at noon on a Saturday, but I deeply apologize for wronging you, whoever you are.

If the coffee didn’t wake me up at this unsavory hour, the quarter mile sprint to the train sure did.

Welp — @davidhogg.bsky.social to Scott Jennings: "People are tired of being lectured by men with Rolexes on CNN about affordability in this country. That’s why Zohran is resonating."

The level of excitement I felt seeing all these new sleep stories dropping from @chaniapp.bsky.social yesterday cannot be overstated. I get stoked for a new sleep story every night, it’s the best part of my bedtime ritual 💜

The average US taxpayer spends $36 a year on SNAP

You know what they spend on corporate subsidies? $670

Poor and disabled people who need food are not the problem

If you’re angry about “your money” feeding people but not angry it’s giving tax cuts to the wealthy?

You’re doing their dirty work.

Sunday ruck day providing gorgeous fall colors. A nice pay off for the early wake up

Missing the UK so I’ve been baking and cooking their dishes for a bit of comfort. Homemade clotted cream, scones, Victoria sponge, millionaire bars, Lorne sausage, and most recently, sausage rolls from the aforementioned dish. Still have a huge list to go through. Cullen skink, I’m lookin’ at you!

Household goods acquired, car has arrived and is picked up thanks to the generosity of friends driving me from Fairfax to Baltimore during rush hour! They’re the real MVPs and those acts of kindness are so appreciated especially now.

Shit’s crazy, the news cycle never end and the “so do I” part of “the horrors persist” is getting a little less convincing, so take a break, breathe in and enjoy this photo to break up your news cycle.

New vacuum acquired: Dyson V11 stick. I’m holding out hope that it’ll do what I need because I cannot be arsed to lug an upright up and down the stairs. I do reserve the right to admit defeat and return it if it’s just not working out though. So far though, I’m in love.

Got my new planner delivered (I really need Passion Planner to start printing inserts instead of bound books pls/thx) and fountain pens filled. Pouring all my anxiety into meticulously setting up said planner. It occupies the mind when dread tries to set in.

A few round of grocery shopping have left us feeling very … shocked? Dismayed? Disgusted? All of the above, at the price of food in the United States. I know keep singing the praises of life in the UK and I also know there are struggles there but damn, I shouldn’t have to take out a loan for apples

Returned to the gym after a month of being “in transit” with this move. Felt good to see most of my strength hasn’t diminished as much as it felt like it had.

On the move front: I wanted to feel sorta human today, so I busted out the makeup and played with a little bolder lip (liner is Mahogany, lipstick is Paramount both from MAC) and it did lift my spirits a little bit

We’ve returned to the United States. Not remotely pleased with it but them’s the breaks I guess. Trying to manage grieving leaving the UK with not letting it bleed over into affecting how the husband feels about work bringing us back here. That being said, I need tacos STAT.

We’re in the final days of this move. Cleared the house, in a hotel now, waiting to depart. Decided to don my favourite Donegal tweed pieces and go out for one last Sunday roast. I’m gonna miss this place terribly.

We hired a realtor to help us find a rental where we’re going because the rental market is so ridiculous. We’re so glad we did though because we’ve gotten *so much* accomplished in less than a week and it feels like we might even find something before we even get there. Def using her when/if we buy.

Movers have come and gone. Now we sit in limbo in an empty house between now and our departure for the U.S.
Indoor camping has officially commenced.
December 5, 2024 at 5:27 PM
Had our pre move survey done this morning to see how long the movers would realistically need to pack out our house and load it all up. Finished with the letting agency conducting a home tour of a prospective renter. I hate how real this feels.

The horrors persist, but so do I. Deadlifting 225 for two sets of 5 is a win. The other three sets had to drop to 215 and 205 respectively but that’s still super solid and I’m stoked.
