Yup. If you really want to support a writer/musician (and can afford it), buy the book/music. Spotify, Kindle Unlimited, etc are great discovery tools but generally crap for payment, especially for indie folks. Getting a copy, from them or the sellers they prefer, puts more money in their pocket.
KU always felt like Spotify for books. I just assumed that authors were either not getting the a fair cut now or at least they wouldn't once Amazon got enough folks signed on to use as leverage. I always just buy books outright.
