Deserve? No one deserves anything. They are doing the work. More than most can say. By the way, opposition at this point is anyone opposing trump and the authoritarian rise.. so not sure why we are imposing purity tests on that

Sometimes these things are learned later. Also, by doing by this, dems successfully raised the salience of healthcare (their best issue) and showed them to be the ones actually fighting for the working class

Because millions of people are going unpaid? People can’t get food? These things are all happening, and it was seeming less likely even that republicans would want to fund any healthcare subsidies. This says more about republicans than dems

They probably thought they could genuinely win the fight. And they needed to motivate democrats, which was proven on Tuesday. The reality is there may be no good off-ramp. To me it shows fight and everyone knows this is on the republicans, even if the dems can’t win outright here an now

It’s asymmetric warfare here, republicans don’t care the about the pain being caused. What should be done? Hold out forever? That’s simply not an option
