Just another special snowflake in the big drift. Elder geek, reader, sometimes writer, current student, poodle wrangler, servant of cats, Godzilla analyst (Toho, not Monsterverse), dabbler in many things, ignorer of current events.
You have more guts than me! The whole idea gives me the flaming fantods! I did try, once, years back, and the assorted silences and form rejections were...hard. Actually, the rejections weren't so bad. The silences were.

I have felt that way for some years. Life just isn't long enough to actually live it while getting all the reading done!

My favorite of hers is Wild Seed. It was such a...a strong, weird, wild idea of a book!

I have gone through the whole series (in audio book form, although I just got the print version) 4 times since the beginning of the year. I GET IT!!!

OK, now I have to read your stuff. Just got through with The Salvage Crew -- AIs, alien contact via poetry, and Tennyson.

Currently, I'm writing a paper on Frankenstein and another on the word "crazy". I'll get back to fiction eventually :)

I have similar struggles and hit a hard 4 year stretch of barely reading at all -- no audio books, no print, nothing. Eventually I just went with the least demanding forms -- manga, for me, and 'light novels' which are very undemanding but fun. Go for something out of your usual zone.

That sounds excellent. I'm working on a second degree, this time in Creative Writing with a minor in Women's and Gender Studies, but my true love is science fiction :) Thanks for the kick! Up to the top of the TBR it goes!

I've had this on my TBR for soo long, but just never have gotten down to it. I doubt it will show up in any of my classes (maybe when I'm done with survey courses...) What class are you teaching?

Oh I can give you very long lists!!

That book was a devastating read, and I've never managed to finish the sequel because it is so raw. Eventually, I will try again.

Unless that scribble at the top is his. Then double cool.
February 21, 2025 at 8:17 PM
Sooo much envy!!! It could only be cooler if China Mieville had signed it too.

Oo! Just...Oo!

Someone else who knows about Bela Fleck!!

Genres being what they are, I could conceivably be in both at the same time (nothing keeps a thriller from being in a fantasy setting). However, yeah -- elves, friendly dragons, magic. All sounds fun.
