I am mourning today. I am mourning the children of Minneapolis who were gunned down while they were praying at school. I am mourning the families who sent their babies off with backpacks and prayers and will never hold them again. I am also mourning my country because this is who we have become.I hate it. I hate what we are. A nation that will move heaven and earth to protect embryos and blastocysts but won’t lift a finger to protect living, breathing children. A country that will legislate my uterus into chains but shrugs when a classroom or a church turns into a morgue.Don’t you dare tell me “thoughts and prayers.” They were already praying. They prayed as bullets tore through stained glass and bone. And God didn’t fail them—WE DID. Every lawmaker, every lobbyist, every coward who has chosen guns over kids has blood on their hands.They were children. They should be drawing pictures and begging for five more minutes of recess to play. Instead, they are dead. Gone. Stolen. Because America has decided that their right to live is less sacred than the right to stockpile weapons of war.I am tired. I am tired of burying kids. I am tired of writing the same words after every massacre. I am tired of a nation that worships guns and treats children as collateral damage.If you can read this and still look away, you’ve lost your soul. And if you feel this fury too, let it consume you until it becomes action. Because until we do something, this doesn’t end. We are not powerless. But we are complicit if we stay silent.And I refuse silence.I refuse surrender.I refuse to let motherhood mean only mourning.I will resist like a mother because my children, and yours, deserve a country that values their lives more than its guns.
