I know I’m not as cool as I try to be

But why did my American girl doll look like this.

Crying because apparently my dogs backstory has been known

If you can rescue your dog, do it.

Whoever surrendered my dog. He’s having a great life. Thank you.

30. Emilia Perez. As a musical, this was bad. When you add all the controversy surrounding the film, I’m really surprised that this was nominated so many times this year.

29. AP Bio season 3. I really enjoyed the writing as they switch from network to streaming. I will always celebrate Katie Holmes Day.

28. Sugarcane. A truly shocking and disturbing investigation of Residence schools with a focus on St. Joseph’s Mission in Canada. I’ve never felt so angry before.

27. Coming Home by Brittney Griner with Michelle Buford. This was an amazing story. Not just for Griner’s resilience, but also for their candid journey of healing and their commentary on sexism, racism, and homophobia.

26. The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. I thought this was going to some kind of Jesus Fan Fic but was pleasantly surprised that this was a story on female connections and history of gender roles during this time period.

25. I Am Ready, Warden. I cried so hard. This short doc highlighted the complicated feelings around the death penalty.

24. Wallace and Gromit a Vengeance Most Fowl. So many nostalgia feels and I love claymation as an art.

23. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

Liked the author’s writing style but was infuriated by how cocky McCandless came across. I can understand his need to disconnect from society, but he was so unprepared

22. AP Bio Season 2. Still super funny and loved the introduction of a love interest

21. Memoir of a snail. Absolutely loved this. It was devastating but still had moments that made me smile.
February 3, 2025 at 5:38 PM
20. The Substance. It was not for me. I don’t like body horror, but it was nominated for Oscars so I had to watch it
February 3, 2025 at 5:37 PM
19. The Fury by Alex Michaelides. I liked the unreliable narrator approach, but the ending felt a little rushed as if they were playing catch up with their idea. 3/5

18. Conclave. It was an entertaining movie, but the trailer made it seem more thrilling than it was.
January 29, 2025 at 8:07 PM
16. The Brutalist. First and foremost loved that there was an intermission. If your movie is longer than 2.5 hours it should be the norm. Overall, the movie was good. The actors were amazing and cinematography beautiful. But there was one scene that seemed unnecessary and came from nowhere.

16. Sex Lives of College Girls season 3
I was really worried when Renee Rapp announced she was leaving the show, but the writers handled that transition and introduction of new lovable characters flawlessly. Still one of the funniest shows out there.

15. You’ve Reached Sam by Dustin Thao. A story about love, grief, and moving on. The concept was really interesting but I didn’t like the main character (although she did have a lot of character growth by the end)

14. The Only Girl in the Orchestra. Really interesting short film about Orin O’Brien who was the first female member of the NY philharmonic. Despite this impressive breakthrough, she preferred being a secret artist staying in the background and teach many musicians along the way
January 24, 2025 at 9:28 PM
13. Instruments of a Beating Heart. One of the Oscar nominated short docs, this sends a message of collectivism and focuses on Ayame as she works hard and finds her place in her class performance. It was also interesting to see a different approach to education in countries other than the US
January 23, 2025 at 6:30 PM
12. Paper Names by Susie Lou. A great story about identity and family. There was a main character that I debated whether they were even needed in the story. 4/5
January 22, 2025 at 8:45 PM
11. In the Company of the Courtesan by Sarah Dunant. Sometimes you have to give up on books. DNF on pg 169. The scenery was beautiful, but I couldn’t care about the characters.

10. AP Bio season 1. So far this is fun. Awesome comedic timing from the cast
January 20, 2025 at 5:06 PM
9. Nosferatu. Fantastic casting and acting. Not as scary as I thought it would be.
January 20, 2025 at 5:05 PM
8. Feel Good Productivity by Ali Abdaal. The third part of the book was probably the most impactful to me. I’ve been struggling with burnout recently and he offered some good insights on how to relax and energize myself.
