Self-Care List to Survive This Administration While Remaining a Concerned Citizen 1. Set up news alerts, but make them play Yakety Sax. 2. For every hour of any news (CNN, MSNBC, etc), spend an hour watching Great British Bake Off. 3. Join activism groups, but also join a Cheese of the Month Club. 4. Donate to causes you to believe in, but also to your personal escape plan (or ice cream fund). 5. Attend protests, but make sure your signs pun so good they’re worth it. 6. Create a political action playlist, but make sure it includes ABBA. 7. Practice deep breathing exercises every time someone says ‘unprecedented’. 8. Keep informed about democracy while maintaining a strict ratio of 1:1 dog photos to news updates. 9. Start a Constitutional Crisis Garden — when democracy feels shaky at least your tomatoes will be thriving. 10. Practice saying, ‘I need to fact-check that’ while doing an interpretive dance. 11. Create an emergency democracy kit that includes one kazoo, three rubber chickens, and the entire Hamilton soundtrack.
